What does your smile say about you?
November 10th, 2011Cosmetic Dentistry – Before and After
October 28th, 2011One of the things we like to do as a practice is document each patient’s journey, this allows us to learn as a practice and develop our skills further each time.
We thought here we’d give you an example of a recent cosmetic dentistry case we did for a young lady with some old dental restorations on her front 2 teeth. She was also unhappy with the rotation of some other teeth and the way they look dark and grey.
After discussions with the patient we decided that we would do 8 dental veneers/crowns on the upper teeth to even out her smile. And this was the result.
We love seeing the transformation possible when someone has their new smile – in fact that’s exactly what they do get… a brand new smile.
The icing on the cake for us was this lovely hamper she sent us – thank you Angela
If you’d like a chat about how we might be able to help you too, then please call us on 01765 602161

Inman Aligner – Straight teeth in around 12 weeks
September 16th, 2011Inman Aligner - Straight teeth in around 12 weeks
We’ve found the Inman Aligner from our dental practice in Ripon to be a revolutionary new way to straighten teeth.
So if you are unhappy with your smile with crooked or uneven teeth and want the fastest result then the Inman Aligner is for you.
Our shire dentists love the Inman Aligner because its:
- Rapid, in around 10-18 weeks it can straighten your front teeth.
- Removable, you need to wear the aligner for 20 hours a day, but can remove it for eating and important social occasions.
- Comfortable, the Inman Aligner uses a revolutionary new way to gently pull and push at the same time with minimal discomfort.
The aligner works by an innovative mechanism which pushes and pulls your teeth at the same time
The Inman Aligner isn’t suitable for moving back teeth, or for moving teeth great distances however for general orthodontics on the front teeth it is often ideal and provides a rapid orthodontic solution
Length of Treatment
Inman Aligner treatment typically takes 10-18 weeks. Simple cases can complete in a little over 1 month and more complex cases might take 4 months or so. Your Inman Aligner Dentist will give you a realistic guide of what to expect. Normally lower front teeth move a little faster than uppers.
However, because the Inman Aligner is so highly efficient, when a case is suitable, it works much faster than alternative orthodontics techniques. This is what makes it so revolutionary and moves the Inman Aligner into the realms of cutting edge Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dentist of the Year
June 8th, 2011Donald is over the moon following being named “Dentist of the Year” at the prestigious National Dental Awards 2011. The judges described him as “a very worthy winner” and praised him for his professionalism and dedication to patient care. ” Donald was one of nine finalists out of all the dentists in the UK. He was presented with the award at a gala dinned in London attended by over 300 of the UK’s most respected dentists. “When I decided to be a dentist I set out to change the way dentistry was perceived and delivered in the UK. This award is a great honour and proves that I am on the right track. There is no reason why people should fear visiting dentists or why they should not have the smile of their dreams.”
“I certainly could not have done it without the back-up of the superb team at Clock Tower Dental Care.”

Happy Easter
April 1st, 2010We would like to wish all our patients a “Happy Easter” with a gentle reminder to all those patients, especially the younger ones, who may be indulging in chocolate eggs over the holidays. Please remember to brush your teeth well morning and night with a fluoride toothpaste and try to limit your chocolate eating to after meals. Or why not try painting hens eggs or hard boiling them and finding a hill to roll them down on Sunday morning- much better for your teeth!
Happy Easter from all the team at Clock Tower Dental Care.
Dentists visit school-again
March 27th, 2010Once again some of Clock Tower’s dentists were back at school again. This time Donald and Hamish were talking to pupils at Ripon Grammar School about choosing dentistry as a profession as part of the school’s Career Evening. “It was great to see so many young people interested in dentistry and to be able to explain to them what diversity there can be in dentistry. There is the capacity for dentists to work as a general dentist or for them to develop an interest in particular areas of dentistry like cosmetic dentistry, endodontics or dental implants for example”, Donald said afterwards. Hamish was also keen to point out that there are many different environments for dentists to work in as well, from a local dental practice to a hospital setting or serving as a dentist with the armed forces, something which both Donald and Hamish have done. Hamish was also able to give students up to date advice on applying for university as he is involved with Leeds University.
The evening went well and Donald and Hamish both look forward to attending next year’s event.
