New Patient Information
Thank you for choosing Clock Tower Dental Care in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. If you are wondering what to expect on your first visit to the practice or are feeling a little anxious then this is the section for you. Here we'll explain how to find us, what will happen on your visit and show you what the practice looks like.
How to find us
We are north of the city centre on the A61 to Thirsk. The practice is in a row of Victorian terraced houses on the left hand side just before the Clock Tower as you head out of Ripon. There is some limited on street parking beside the practice and in the streets round about it. However you may prefer to park in the pay and display car park behind Sainsbury's on the Market Square or to park in the new disc parking car park at Argos. Both car parks are a short walk from the practice with Argos being the closer.
Many patients allow time for a complimentary coffee or tea in our lounge before their appointment and take the opportunity to browse the latest magazines on offer.
We offer two initial appointments at the practice, a new patient examination and a cosmetic consultation.

The new patient examination
After being collected from the lounge by one of our nursing team you will be shown to the surgery for your examination. All our surgeries are equipped with intra oral cameras and chair side monitors allowing your dentist to discuss your teeth while you view them on the monitor. There is also a ceiling mounted television for you to watch if you wish during treatment.
This appointment is the ideal opportunity for you to get to know your new dentist and for the dentist to understand your dental needs. Your medical history will be discussed and your previous dental experiences. This is the time for you to tell your dentist about any concerns you may have about your teeth or your oral health in general. Your dentist will then carry out Clock Tower Dental Care's "7 point" Oral Health Assessment
where they will :
- Assess general oral hygiene
- Assess caries incidence
- Investigate the integrity of any previous restorations
- Carry out oral cancer screening
- Assess jaw and muscle function
- Assess and record gum health
- Discuss aesthetic appearance
If any x-rays are required they will be taken at this stage. Your dentist will then inform you of any further treatment that is required. This may include referring you to the oral hygienist to ensure that your mouth remains as healthy as possible. After discussing all the available options with you a detailed treatment plan will be drawn up that best meets your needs and a quotation will be given at this stage.
Once you are happy with the plan and all your questions have been answered our reception staff will be happy to arrange any further appointments that may be needed.
We hope that this section has answered any queries you may have about your forthcoming examination. If you have any further questions or concerns then please don't hesitate to email us on email@example.com or telephone 01765 602161 and speak to one of our reception team.
At Clock Tower Dental Care we believe that you deserve to have the best information possible concerning your smile and for this reason our cosmetic consultations are with one of our highly experienced cosmetic dentists rather than treatment coordinators. The cosmetic consultation is the ideal opportunity for you to discuss your cosmetic dental concerns, whether you are interested in a whitening procedure or a more advanced technique such as implants or a full smile makeover, with the dentist who would actually be treating you. The dentist is also then able to advise you on the best possible course of treatment for you and give you an indication of the results. We are also happy to show examples of previous cases which may be similar to your own.
The cosmetic consultation generally takes 30 minutes and is free to patients of the practice who are considering cosmetic treatment and to those considering having cosmetic dental treatment at the practice. If after this consultation you wish to improve your smile a full examination would be required prior to the treatment if you are not an existing patient of the practice.
If you would like any further information on any of the cosmetic treatments available at the practice then please see the treatments area of the website or if you would like to receive our printed cosmetic dentistry information pack then please email the practice using the form on the contact page or telephone the practice on 01765 602161 to request a pack in person.
We hope this section has been of use to you. If you have any questions or queries that have not been answered by this section then please don't hesitate to email us on firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01765 602161 and speak to one of our reception team.
We look forward to seeing you at your appointment.
